Staff Infrastructure Engineer
The role
Veltro runs on infrastructure that has to be fast, reliable, and secure at all times. As our Staff Infrastructure Engineer you will own the architecture decisions that determine whether we scale gracefully or crack under pressure.
This is a senior technical leadership role. You will have significant scope, direct impact on reliability targets, and a close working relationship with our CTO.
What you'll do
- Own infrastructure architecture for reliability, scalability, and security across all Veltro environments
- Lead platform initiatives across Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability tooling
- Establish engineering standards and review processes for the infrastructure team
- Drive incident response culture and post-mortem rigor across the engineering org
- Partner with security on compliance, SOC 2 maintenance, and penetration testing programs
What we're looking for
- 8+ years in infrastructure or site reliability engineering roles
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes, Terraform, and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP)
- Experience running high-availability services at scale with strong SLA commitments
- Strong incident management and on-call experience, including postmortem leadership
- Excellent written communication for an async-first, distributed team
Nice to have
- Experience at a company that has achieved SOC 2 Type II certification
- Familiarity with eBPF or low-level networking and performance debugging
- Experience designing and operating multi-region active-active deployments
The interview process
We run a focused, respectful process. No take-home projects that eat your weekend. No trick whiteboard questions. We want to understand how you think and how you work, not test whether you've memorized sorting algorithms.
