Data Engineer, Analytics
The role
Veltro's analytics features are powered by a data warehouse that needs to be fast, accurate, and continuously evolving. As our Data Engineer you will own the infrastructure that turns raw events into the metrics customers see on their dashboards every day.
You will work at the intersection of engineering and product, collaborating closely with backend engineers and the product team to define how data flows through the platform.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain the data warehouse powering real-time analytics features for 2,400+ customers
- Design data models for product analytics, revenue metrics, and retention data
- Collaborate with backend engineers to define and enforce event schema standards
- Optimize query performance across ClickHouse and BigQuery workloads
- Partner with product on new analytics features and metrics definitions
What we're looking for
- 4+ years in data engineering or analytics engineering
- Strong SQL and hands-on experience with columnar databases such as ClickHouse, BigQuery, or Redshift
- Experience with data modeling for analytics workloads, including slowly changing dimensions and event schemas
- Familiarity with orchestration tools such as dbt, Airflow, or similar
- Strong written communication for an async-first distributed team
Nice to have
- Experience building customer-facing analytics products or embedded dashboards
- Real-time streaming data experience using Kafka, Flink, or similar technologies
- Python or Scala proficiency for data processing pipelines
The interview process
We run a focused, respectful process. No take-home projects that eat your weekend. No trick whiteboard questions. We want to understand how you think and how you work, not test whether you've memorized sorting algorithms.
